Dr. Rob has a vast background
of competitive athletics. He started competing at the age of 9.
In his senior year of high school he lettered in five
sports and then played baseball and football at a junior college
in Mississippi on full scholarship. After riding a bicycle from
Seattle, Washington to Memphis, Tennessee in 1982 Rob started
an eight-year professional cycling career. He raced all over
the US and in Europe. He even brushed elbows with a young upstart
named Lance Armstrong. During that time he managed a whole foods
market and was the buyer for the nutrition department. "
I consumed every bit of information I could on nutrition and
performance to get any edge possible". His undergrad is
in nutrition. At the start of the 1988 season Rob blew out a
disc in his spine between the lowest vertebra and the sacrum
from over training and began a chiropractic journey. The orthopedists
and physical therapists said he would probably not compete at
the same level again. A chiropractor friend had him back in
the saddle in six weeks. The seed was planted. After cycling
Rob fulfilled a childhood dream and played his hand at acting.
He attended a dramatic conservatory in Manhattan and then "pedaled"
his wears on the streets of New York until he realized athletics
and health care was where he needed to be. The next step was
four years of chiropractic school in Atlanta. After graduating
Rob practiced in Ireland and in Mississippi before deciding
to go on his own. He chose Nashville and started a practice
in Green Hills. After two years he saw a need for the working
professionals as well as the residents of downtown Nashville
and decided to move the practice. He opened Downtown WELLNESS
in September of 2004. Rob believes that the power that made
the body heals the body. As a chiropractor his responsibility
is to reduce and eliminate pain first, but more importantly
to facilitate optimal living.
